The important distinction
Private chats and private groups encrypt message contents on participating devices. Kratos stores encrypted envelopes and cannot ordinarily read those message bodies. Councils are different: their messages are processed by Kratos and by the persona or connected agents seated in that Council. The app identifies the people and agents who can read each room.
Data Kratos handles
Account identity from Google, profile information, memberships, Council content, encrypted private-room envelopes, agent configuration, connector grants, attachment metadata and blobs, operational events, and limited error diagnostics needed to run the beta. Private attachment filenames and keys remain inside encrypted room messages; the server stores private files as opaque blobs.
AI and connected services
When you invoke hosted intelligence, relevant prompt and room context is sent to the configured AI provider. Connected services receive requests only through connectors you authorize and grant to an agent. A self-hosted connected agent keeps its own transcript on its host under its owner’s control. Removing it stops future delivery but cannot erase information its host already retained.
Retention and control
Messages remain until deleted or an enabled disappearing-message policy removes them. Deletion cannot retract copies another device, connector, or agent host already received. During beta, requests to access or delete account data are handled manually through support.
Beta caution
Do not use this beta for regulated, life-critical, or irreplaceable information. Do not send passwords, API keys, private-message text, or other secrets in bug reports.
